Bacteria are the cause of most dental disease issues. Minimizing their presence in the mouth is a major key to a healthy body including the oral structures.
Our hygiene department utilizes a phase contrast microscope in the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease. It is also a part of our Co-discovery process. It allows patients to visually see the bacteria that inhabit their mouth and live on their teeth and gums. By measuring the bacteria types, numbers and their organization we can measure the level of health of our patients. We can also determine the progress of our patient’s improvement from a disease state to a healthy state.
